Zeray has been appointed Chair of the Sub-Saharan Africa Faculty Working Group here at UChicago. As stated on their website, “The Working Group for Sub-Saharan Africa has been formed as a part of the University of Chicago’s expanding commitment to academic engagement with Sub-Saharan Africa and will help determine the direction of that engagement through the selection of awardees for our funding mechanisms, the Provost’s Global Faculty Awards for Sub-Saharan Africa.”
Zeray joins Chibueze Amanchukwu, Christopher Blattman, Samuel Fury Childs Daly, Adom Getachew, Sandra Laveaux, Emily Lynn Osborn, and Hakizumwami Birali Runesha. Previous to this appointment, he worked alongside many of them already as a member of the group.
UChicago Global included Zeray’s appointment in a recent Digest newsletter. It states, “As Chair, he will lead the University’s efforts to support faculty partnerships across Sub-Saharan Africa, guide the review of award proposals, and help shape UChicago’s global strategy in the region.”
UChicago Global also has a profile on Zeray, which can be read here.
